Frequently Asked Questions

An amortization schedule is a complete table of every loan payment showing how much goes to principal vs. interest and your remaining balance after each payment.

Biweekly payments (26 per year) equal 13 monthly payments. The extra payment applies directly to principal, saving significant interest and paying off the loan years early.

Extra monthly payments are recurring additions to every payment. Lump sums are one-time payments at specific months. Both reduce principal faster but work differently.

Interest is calculated on the remaining balance. As principal decreases with each payment, less interest accrues, so a larger portion of each payment goes to principal.
